What will I learn at WTCBC?

At Chinese Boxing Club we teach Wing Tsun, which is a system of  Chinese Boxing (kung fu) that was developed around 300 years ago. It is weaponless self-defense in its most effective and most uncompromising form.

Wing Tsun is not a sport. Close range techniques such as punches, kicks, knees and elbows are combined with highly maneuverable footwork and applied in a light springy manner that borrows the opponent's force and turns it back on them.

But training in WT is more than just learning how to better defend yourself.

To learn Wing Tsun is to learn about yourself.  You will develop better strength, flexibility, balance and coordination.

You will begin to notice inward changes ...you will have better mental focus, more self discipline, improved self confidence...

SELF DEFENSE FOR WOMEN

WT will not only get you in shape, but it becomes a motivation to stay in shape.

So to study WT is really an investment in yourself...a journey to HEALTH,FITNESS,STRENGTH and BALANCE.

What if I've never studied a martial art?

Even if you have never learned a martial art before,  you will be able to learn Wing Tsun. That's because Wing Tsun is for the everyday person- man or woman. You don't have to be an athlete with superior strength and speed to be effective at Wing Tsun.

Wing Tsun's scientific principles allow a smaller weaker person to defend themselves against a larger, more powerful opponent through simple, yet superior technique.

What are classes like at WTCBC?

Classes at WTCBC are taught in small groups,  yet each student is guided individually, so that each student is able to reach their fullest potential.

A typical class is a blend of solo drills and partner work designed to build proper body mechanics and reflexes into the  student that  will directly carry over in a self defense situation.

This is a process that takes time. You will not glove up on the first day of training because one of the first things to learn in Wing Tsun training is to relax. We do this by introducing the new student to the concept of cooperative training where you are not competing with your training partner, rather, you are working with your partner to help each of you improve your skills.
Our Training Place

At WTCBC, we're kind of old school.  We don't have fancy uniforms,  or colored belts.

Chinese  martial arts (kung fu) was taught as a family system in old China, with fathers teaching their families and close friends. as a way to protect themselves.

We strive to continue that tradition at WTCBC.  We are not a commercial school,  we are a club, consisting of like minded people who want to train a traditional system of Chinese martial arts in a fun, relaxed atmosphere, free of  outrageous fees, contracts, and politics that so often accompany  the typical martial arts school.
